Big-boned and intense, it features oaky, thick, ripe dark cherry as the main standout, although it is nearly overwhelmed by earth and vanilla.

The vintage was terribly difficult, with cold and rain everywhere, leading to widespread mold, especially along the coast. This Pinot seems to suffer from that problem despite some good raspberry and cherry fruit flavors.

Some Sonoma Coast Pinots are dark, heavy and dense, and this is one of them. It's so rich and full-bodied in black cherry, raspberry and currant fruit, it's almost like a Rhône wine. Defines a certain style, and delicious at that, but not likely to age, so drink now.
